Changes occur throughout our life, and this is a constant we cannot alter. However, how we respond and move through these changes is what we have control over. The cycles of change have taught me so much, giving me an inner strength I didn’t know I was capable of.
It was a snowy winter day in February of 2016. I was in the middle of unwinding my 21-year marriage when I developed chest pain during a meeting with my event coordinator for my annual Shine event. The pain radiated down my left arm and into my jaw.
Having worked in healthcare as a Health Information Manager, I knew I was having a cardiac event, but my mind was in denial. Finally, I called 911. My knowing told me
I needed help immediately.
I was married to a large cattle rancher, and we had three daughters. Our marriage had been struggling for years, but fear of the unknown kept me from leaving earlier.
The comfortable life I’d known for 21 years was falling apart. I often worried about how this would affect my daughters and my relationship with them—the oldest was in university, and the younger two were in junior high.
